At Assylei Child of God our “why” is simple...
Assylei Charity exists for families who have survived what should have broken them.
Founded by Zakiyah Smith, a survivor of an aggravated assault, this mission was birthed from pain, but sustained by faith. On April 12, 2024, Zakiyah was run over by a reckless driver while simply trying to get a ride home. She did not make it home that day. Instead, she entered a fight for her life, enduring two major procedures and continuing to live with spinal complications.
But God’s hand was on her.
In the darkest season, her faith was elevated into a living testimony, proof that survival can become purpose. Assylei Charity was created to be the bridge between survivors in need and the resources that restore hope: financial relief, medical support, and social services that help families rebuild with dignity.

can feel the hardest.
Beyond food, we connect participants to legit resources that are accessible 24/7, including job training, career support, and workforce preparation so families can move from survival to stability. We also maintain a small clothing closet for essential clothing needs and provide tools and supplies for school and office, helping children and adults show up prepared and confident.
